REVERSE ENGINEERING
Our Process
At Meccanica Engineering, we use our many years of engineering experience, industry leading software and the latest equipment to provide reverse engineering services. A full reverse engineering project can bring together all of our skill sets. This is because reverse engineering doesn't usually mean copying an existing part exactly as we find it, there's much more to the process. Creating a sympathetic and functional recreation of an existing product requires an understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines and manufacturing processes.
We are able to create CAD models of damaged or worn parts and incorporate desired design intent. If required we can even provide a full turn-key solution and produce a physical reverse engineered part from the CAD. This process starts by analysing the part, determining manufacturing processes, and taking measurements. 3D scanning is the fastest way to collect real world data, especially on complex shapes, but this is just the first step. The next step usually involves using the 3D scan data to create a CAD model. We produce DFM (Design for Manufacturability) CAD models, so you can have confidence that the supplied model can actually be made. We can then use the CAD model and incorporate further design modifications or go straight to manufacture.
