CAD & DRAWINGS

We’re experts in 3D Computer Aided Design, & can create 2D Drawings  to your specific drawing standards

CAD - Our Process

Our Process

At Meccanica we use SOLIDWORKS design engineering software for majority of our CAD work. We have over 15 years of experience creating CAD models with SOLIDWORKS. Our design engineers are qualified to the highest standards having achieved the Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert qualification, as well as dozens more qualifications (see below for details). However we believe the proof is not in our certificates, its in our work and the satisfaction of our customers. Having spent many years learning CAD from a theoretical perspective, as well as in industry  making CAD models that actually get manufactured, we have a balanced set of CAD skills.

CSWA Exam Certificate

We can produce 3D CAD models from a number of sources. You can supply us with a physical part, a paper drawing or even hand sketches. Once we have created the 3D model, we can use it to make engineering drawings, conduct assembly mechanism tests, perform stress simulations or even render photo realistic images.

We also have experience in many specific CAD disciplines such as surface modelling. Surface modelling is an advanced modelling method that allows you create organic shaped geometry that typically can’t be created with regular solid modelling techniques. It is a more advanced type of modelling typically requiring more experience. Our engineers have undertaken the Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Surface Modelling certificate. Here are just some of our other modelling specialisms;

2D Drawings

We can work with you to produce professional engineering drawings to a specified drafting standard. We can deliver drawings in many formats ranging from image files and PDFs to digital drawings formats such as DXF and DWG. Alternatively, we can send you printed paper copies if you prefer.

We can produce many types of drawing ranging from individual Part Manufacturing Drawings to entire product General Assembly Drawings. Producing 2D drawings on a modern CAD system involves making a 3D model. Once we have drawn your 3D model, we can use it to create as many different types of drawing as required. This also means when we supply your drawings, if required we can also provide you with 3D CAD models in a range of file formats.

Available File Formats

We can provide your 2D or 3D data in your preferred file format. For 2D, this can be anything from DXF and DWG to PDF or image format such as JPEG. For 3D, we can supply native SOLIDWORKS files, or CAD neutral file formats such as  IGES, STEP, ACIS, STL, PARASOLID and many more. If you would like us to provide you with a 3D CAD model, but you don't have a CAD package to view it in, you can download eDrawings and view it for free; https://www.edrawingsviewer.com/download-edrawings.
